There’s this joke involving an engineer, a physicist, and a mathematician trying to solve a problem–it’s sort of overtold–and the punch line is something like engineers are practical, physicists are lazy, and/or mathematicians are clever depending on whether an engineer, physicist, or mathematician is telling the joke.  I’m not really interested in retelling the joke.
