Staff Positions

We are always looking for talented individuals to join our Editorial and Design Teams. Since the BSR is a graduate student publication, all editors must be current UC Berkeley graduate students. Positions typically open at the beginning of our semi-annual editing cycles in June and December. Announcements for open positions will be made through the BSR email list and on social media.

Editors

Editors form the core group of the BSR and are responsible for bringing the magazine and blog together, which includes everything from thinking up story ideas and working with writers to distributing the magazine and soliciting funding. Time commitment includes five meetings per semester, plus about five hours a week of editing work.

Designers

Our designers work with the BSR Art Director to make sure the publication is visually beautiful and consistent. This work entails page layout, researching photo permissions and credits, and suggesting ways to visually enhance stories. Some layout and design experience is preferred, but not required. Designers meet weekly during the publication cycle.

Time Commitment

We would prefer at least a year commitment to the Berkeley Science Review for these positions. There is no pay involved, but the experience is priceless.
